We’d love to welcome you to the library! Getting a card is simple and gives you access to everything we have to offer.

To get started, just stop by the library and register in person. If you live in Addison Township, you’re eligible for a free library card. We’ll just need a valid ID and proof of your current address at the time of sign-up. Library cards are renewed in person every three years to keep your information up to date.

🪪 What to Bring

Please bring a valid ID (such as a Michigan driver’s license, Michigan ID, or passport) that shows your current address in Addison Township, Oxford, Leonard, Lakeville, or Romeo (zip codes 48366, 48367, or 48370).

If you’ve recently moved, you can also show proof of address with items like:

• Recent official mail
• Voter registration
• Lease agreement
• Home purchase documents

We’ll also ask for a phone number so we can stay in touch if needed.

If you currently have a library card from another location, it will need to be canceled before we can issue a new one.

⏳ Temporary Cards

If you’re not able to provide proof of residency right away, we can still get you started with a temporary card, which is valid for 30 days.

👨‍👩‍👧 Cards for Minors

For children under 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to be present (or sign a permission form) and provide proof of residency.

The guardian must:

• Have a valid library card
• Have no fines or blocks on their account
• Agree to be responsible for materials checked out on the child’s card

If a guardian’s card becomes blocked, the child’s card will also be affected.

🌎 Non-Resident Access

If you don’t live in Addison Township, you may still be able to borrow materials through your home library card.

We participate in the MILibraryCard program and also offer access through the The Library Network Shared Automation System (TLN SAS) for eligible libraries.
